Why Rogue?
Most technical partners make you choose: move fast, or get the depth you need. We don't think that's a real trade-off — it's a sign of a bad operating model.
Our founding team spent seven years inside Vanarama, scaling it from a £20m startup to a £200m acquisition by AutoTrader UK Plc. CTO and Director of Analytics — building the technology, data, product, and credit risk functions from scratch while the business operated under FCA regulation and SMCR governance. Two VC funding rounds. Thirty-plus in-house engineers, analysts, and product managers hired and led. A platform that carried the commercial weight of a nine-figure exit.
That kind of experience changes how you work. You stop chasing novelty. You get good at shipping software that has to stand up to due diligence, auditors, boards, and acquirers. You learn where cost really lives in an engineering org, which decisions compound, and which ones quietly bleed a roadmap for years.
Rogue exists to give scaling businesses that same calibre of team — without the twelve-month procurement cycle. Senior people. Direct access. Working software in weeks. We work best with founders and leaders who are ready to move.
How we work
One senior team. No layered account management, no handoffs to a delivery pod you've never met, no junior engineers learning on your budget. The people who scope the work are the people who build it.
Our operating model is built around short, accountable engagements with a clear commercial outcome at the end. We prefer weekly production releases over quarterly milestones. We keep the circle of decision-makers small. We write the software in the open, so you can see what's changing, why, and what it cost.
You get a senior team spanning product, engineering, data, UX, and delivery — hired and trusted to make the call, not escalate it. If something's wrong, you hear about it before the status report.
Our default engagement is a three-month scoped block with a clear outcome defined up-front and a weekly cadence of production releases against it. Most clients renew. The ones that don't usually don't because the work is finished — they've now got a platform they can run themselves, and we help them hand it over.
Our Experience
Where our team has delivered.
Areas of expertise
The work we take on is narrow by design. We've picked a small number of disciplines where senior hands-on experience compounds, and where we've shipped at enterprise scale. If a brief falls outside these, we'll tell you.
Platform engineering
Cross-device applications, payment systems, authentication infrastructure, and cloud-native architecture. The platforms other platforms depend on.
E-commerce and Shopify
Shopify Plus builds, Magento migrations, custom themes with test coverage, and B2B commerce with ERP and WMS integration.
CRM and workflow automation
CRM implementation, lead routing, pipeline reporting, and workflow automation tied to legacy databases and operational systems.
AI and data engineering
Custom AI models, RAG pipelines, LLM integration, and production analytics. Built to serve measurable business outcomes, not demos.
Legacy system modernisation
Incremental migration from legacy platforms to modern stacks. Decomposition, data migration, and parallel-running the old and new until the new earns the cut-over.
Digital strategy and fractional leadership
Fractional CTO, technology roadmaps, due diligence, and investment cases — written to stand up under boardroom and investor scrutiny.
Why founders pick us
The pattern we hear most often from the founders, operators, and investors we work with. If any of these feel familiar, we're probably a good fit for what you're trying to build.
We tend to replace a combination of a small in-house team, a generalist web agency, and a handful of specialist freelancers. The value is in the integration, not any single discipline.
We've sat in the seat
Our founders ran the technology and analytics functions at a VC-backed business that exited to AutoTrader for £200m. We've made the hiring decisions, the platform bets, and the cost calls you are about to make. You get the benefit of those scars.
Weeks, not quarters
Most of our engagements are measured in working software shipped per month, not slides delivered per quarter. The typical Rogue project is in production inside eight to twelve weeks.
One contract, every discipline
Product, engineering, data, UX, QA, and delivery — under one engagement. You don't need to integrate three specialist firms. Decisions happen inside the team and reach you ready to approve, not adjudicate.
Commercial honesty
We quote work we can ship. We call out the parts of a brief we'd change. We tell you when in-housing is the better answer and help you plan the handover. It's a slower sales cycle and a much longer client relationship.
Start a conversation.
No decks. No procurement hoops. Tell us what you're building and we'll tell you how we'd approach it.
We respond personally to every enquiry. If your problem isn't a fit for us, we'll say so — and where we can, point you at someone who is.
